Berlin 2009. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall which I photographed in 1989 for the Independent Newspaper I returned to photograph the changes that have happened over the past 20 years..The former death strip, no mans land between the east on the right and the west. The luxury apartments built in the east were reserved for Stassi or high ranking DDR officers. The mound of rubble in the photograph is untouched since 1989 and according to maps that are displayed nearby would be part of the Hitler Bunker complex, perhaps the underground car parking area..The modern buildings in the centre are newly built offices for German government departments..COPYRIGHT PHOTOGRAPH BY BRIAN HARRIS © 2009.07808-579804
