Thaxted Morris Weekend_Thaxted Essex England_1-2 June 2024
Seen here: Abbots Bromley Horn Dance is performed to the sound of a solo violin in the dark,
seen here, the Thaxted Morris Men perform the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance to the tune of the Wheelright Robinson Tune played by a lone fiddle player through Town Street in Thaxted late in the evening.
Hundreds of Morris Men and Morris Women from across the UK decended on Thaxted in North West Essex and surrounding Villages to celebrate the 96th Morris Meeting hosted by the Thaxted Morris Men.
Teams or sides traveled around NW Essex dancing in suares and pub car parks entertaining visitors and locals alike. For the past three years Ladies have been invited to participate either as part of a side or as a Ladies only side such as ‘Chelmsford Ladies’ and ‘Belles of London City’. In the early evening and late into the night Morris Dancers Processed through Town Street in Thaxted culminating with the traditional Abbots Bromley Horn Dance, performed in darkness aoart fronm one street light.
