Berlin 2009. Twenty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall which I photographed in 1989 for the Independent Newspaper I returned to photograph the changes that have happened over the past 20 years..The slightly forgotten working classes from the west Berlin area of Schlesisches Strasse which was almost surrounded by two east German zones in the south of the city. The investment in the former eastern sector of high end cafes and bars has not happened here, instead it is an area of rather glum downtrodden Berliners who have very little positive to say about the new unified Berlin and Germany..COPYRIGHT PHOTOGRAPH BY BRIAN HARRIS © 2009.07808-579804
